Roofers Saratoga

Roofing surfaces are installed using the help roofing nails, which are made from different materials for nailing different roofing surfaces. These nails are meant only for roofing jobs like securing shingles, shakes, tiles and metal as they have specific qualities and characteristics that make them more durable than standard nails.

Roofers Saratoga states that roofing nails are differentiated based on the type of shank. In case of ring shank nails, the nail’s head is larger than the head of standard nails. This ensures that the shingles it nails down are held fast even in adverse conditions like strong winds.

The surface of these nails is electro galvanized, while the nail is used primarily for asphalt roofing felts. These nails are made from various materials like zinc plated and electro galvanized carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and copper.

Smooth shank nails do not provide much support

Roofers Saratoga also suggests the use of smooth shank nails for a roofing job. These nails are comparatively cheap and made from copper, stainless steel, aluminum or galvanized carbon steel.

This nail is one of the most popular nails used for roofing jobs. However though these nails ensure shingles and shanks are securely held, they do not provide the support other roofing nails provide.

Screw shan

Screw shank nails are used for holding items more securely during a roofing job. It is primarily used for securing wood and pallets where it is possible to hot dip and galvanize the nail surface. Roofers Saratoga states that it is the twisted shank of these nails that give it an advantage while securing roofs.

Sharp tips facilitate easy penetration

Moreover, these roofing nails have a flat head with a diamond tip point that facilitates the easy penetration of roofing material. The chances of any splitting of wood or shingles are reduced by roofing nails with sharp tips as there is minimum stress on penetration.

Roofers Saratoga always prefer using roofing nails of galvanized material in their roofing jobs as they last longer and do not rust quickly. Roofing nails made from stainless steel are best for slate and tile roofing procedures while aluminum nails are used in metal and siding roofs. However if you have a traditional roof, roofers Saratoga suggests the use of copper roofing nails.

The shank of most roofing nails has different lengths which are based on the thickness of the shingle. While hammering a shingle, roofers Saratoga always says its better to hammer four nails per shingle. However if your building or house is located in regions with strong winds, you amyl require five or six nails to secure the shingle.
